Yes, you can do it yourself. Most likely, you just need to replace the washers under the faucet handles. Take off the handles and look at the washers. If they look worn, just pop them off and take them to the hardware store with you so you will know which size to buy. If that does not work, then discuss it with a worker at the hardware store and they will tell you how to replace the faucet.
Don't ever hire a plumber to do something so little! You can do it! It is amazing how much a housewife can do herself!

When you shut off the water, make sure its the two oval looking handles the ones right under the sink.the White Teflon tape can be hard to get around the threads once your ready to screw the nuts back on.When you apply the tape grab the threads from the backside and pull to your left and then wrap around to the front twice so that the tape runs the same way your twisting the nut back on. You don't have to tighten any of the hardware too tight.Once it's snug give it a quarter too half turn with the wrench. Have a bucket and a towel handy too.Wishing you and your pipes well!

Yes. You can try to replace the faucet washer, or replace the faucet assembly itself. The latter will cost more, but you can get a faucet that you really like (including kinds that don't leak). Before doing that, look under the sink and see how the faucet is connected to the water supply. If the connection is by a white flexible plastic tubing, replacing a faucet is a piece of cake. Anything else, and it can be more difficult.

you have a seal called a seat that wears out from time to time.
mark name of faucet and go to local home depot or hardware store and it is only a few bucks. if the sink is high quality.....
1.remove cap in center of handle
2.remove screw inside
3.unscrew rod"NEED A SPECIAL TOOL FOR THIS"
4.remove black rubber seal and replace
5.reverse instructions
If the faucet is a little cheaper then just replace it
1. shut off water
2.unscrew hoses from bottom of faucet and screw in middle of faucet between the two hoses"they sell a wrench that makes this real easy for 10-15 bucks, not to much"
pull faucet off and discard
3.replace with new faucet,
4. reverse instructions
should take about 30 min and not that hard and will save you lots of money
