Why was the country dragged down with the Clinton scandal, and trials, that went on for months, when other important things were happening in the world, and Nixon was pardoned, and his crimes and perjuries were never investigated?

Whas Ford really pardoning? Or was he trying to save his Republican party from political destruction?

The simple truth of the matter is that Nixon was bought down because of scandal, the next Republican president was almost bought down by Iran Contra scandal.

I guess when Clinton was president and the opportunity came along I think the republican figure it is payback time. So right now we stand at Democrats 2 Republicans 1 and the democrats are desperately looking for a scandal to go up 3 to 1 does anyone see where this is leading.

Nixon was investigated. Thoroughly. There were weeks of televised hearings on the Watergate matter. The bombshell that there was a recording system in the oval office came about in one of those televised sessions.
Don't forget that this all had been going on for two years before Nixon resigned. The country was tired of it. The congress and the country needed to move on to other matters. Putting Nixon on trial would have consumed the better part of the next two years. I always hated Nixon but under the circumstances I believe that Ford did the right thing in pardoning him.
