Jaipur in Rajasthan because of the obsession of the townsfolk with Pink Panther movies. Peter Sellers spent some time in Jaipur practising town mannerisms. Ever since the eternally grateful Maherujjah of Bunderstan province urged his subjects to honor everything pink on the horizon. The townspeople worship pink roses, watch pink sunsets, pour pink dye in milk, paint the town pink instead of red ... well you get the picture . Even the ladies of Code Pink are mulling establishing a headquarter there.

Pink City is Jaipur because of the pink stone used in making houses, and though not very commonly known, Jodhpur has many houses painted blue. From Mehrangarh fort, the sight is amazing to see blue stretched beneath.

Jaipur, the capital of desert state Rajasthan is called "Pink City."
It was founded in 1727 by king Sawai Jai Singh. The pink color was used at the time of making to create an impression of red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities. In 1876, Jaipur was repainted and dressed itself pink to welcome Prince Albert and Queen Elizabeth II, and thus the name “Pink City” stuck to it.
