This is supposedly a new law, but I can't find anything about it. I don't know how it works, only that it prevents those with drug convictions from becoming teachers, lawyers or doctors. Any clue?

I have never heard of this. But it should be a law.

And for construction workers too. Have you ever stopped to think how many lives they affect if a building or bridge was not built correctly? Yes, I know there are inspectors to watch over the construction, but there is a lot they don't see, or paid not to see

The problem with such a law is a kid can be busted for possession of marijuana at 19 and then 10 years later want to sign for the bar. He or she could have stopped smoking 10 years previous but it would not matter and their lives would be ruined. Too many youth make silly choices.

The great thing is that those choices can be reversed. I think that any such law should only apply to current use and recent convictions or currently serving probation or parole.

Another thing I do know is that the Codes of Ethics for Lawyers throughout North America, the Hippocratic Oath and Codes of Ethics for MDs and Teachers Associations all have rules about drug and alcohol use, all have support and treatment referrals and all have EAP programs.

Given this, it is hard to say if such a Federal Code could ever come into being. The truth is I believe there should be regular urine and blood tests for all those who work in the judicial, penal, police, medical, social service and education fields.

As a social worker, I know that some of my collegues have problems but whistle blowing means loss of job and possible loss of liscensing.

The sooner we learn to protect the whistle blowers for the service they do for us and to treat those with problems as people who need help rather than criminals, the sooner we can decrease if not erradicate any serious numbers of issues in these professional areas.

I not sure if that is constitutional but I do recall Clinton allowing the secret service to allow former drug users to become agents. If it was good enough for them then why not others.
the numbers are staggering for percentage of past users triers within the general populace.recall the words govt for the people by the people of the people when does that ever apply to anything?

i did no longer even understand that prisoners would have cellular telephones in detention center! What kinda of swanky detention center is that??? I had a coworker who have been given locked up for unpaid site visitors tickets. They took his telephone as quickly as he grew to become into booked, and advised him that he would desire to get somebody to come back as much as the detention center to get it, and in the event that they did no longer, that the detention center grew to become into going to injury it. Yeah maximum appropriate! Like they actually grew to become into going to injury or throw away an purely approximately style new Iphone pffft! He could no longer get all people to come back and get it because of the fact human beings would desire to pass to artwork, so as that they stored it. i will in no way have self assurance that they have got been given rid of it. a style of guards took that telephone homestead, wiped clean it out and used it. they are so nasty, they might have charged him to place the telephone in a locker or some thing. in addition they mysteriously "lost" his homestead keys and funds that he had on him on the time of arrest. hi, if my co worker could no longer use his cellular telephone in detention center, no different prisoners would desire to be waiting to apply theirs the two. I have not got any problem with it. they might desire to make those lazy nasty guards stay off theirs too together as they are on the activity.
