5,280 feet in a mile whether you walk it or run it or drive it.
As for a "country mile", a country mile is an informal term used to mean a great distance, significantly longer than a real mile. The term has a number of possible derivations:
People living in rural areas may considerably underestimate a distance ("Go that way for about a mile, then turn left...")
Country roads often meander, increasing the distance that must be travelled between two locations, compared to the distance measured in a straight line.
It takes longer to traverse unfavorable terrain, increasing the perceived distance between two places.
However, there is no exact measurement of a "country mile" any more than there is an exact measurement for a "New York minute" :)

5280 feet. Reason being, there are 8 furlongs in a mile, a furlong being the distance a horse could pull a plough without stopping... it was a usefull measurement when we were all farmers. If we had made it an even 5000 feet, it would have thrown off the property records, you see.
And in a county, a mile is still 5280 feet.
