basically it is just a moisturizer. it is NOT an anti-aging cream. it minimizes fine lines because fine lines are caused by sun damage and dryness. olay total effects protects your skin from sun damage, which can cause dryness and lead to wrinkles. it even firms the skin, evens out skin tone, minimizes spots and blemishes. it is not an anti-aging cream! i am 22 and am a user it works fine. theres nothing wrong with caring for your skin early and by using this at your age it can help prevent early signs of aging that can start at 25. maybe you can use a smaller portion or do it only in the morning. whats important is that you moisturize your skin, keep it clean and protect it from the sun.

if you are refering to anything anti-aging etc they actually say that if you start using it too young and before you actually need it, that later it won't work. Just some things I've read about it. At 17 I would probably use a basic product just for yoour skin type and sunscreen! Your cells are rejuvenating fast enough so you don't really need anything for an older skin.
