The Language of Baklava: A Memoir by Diana Abu-Jaber. It's a wonderful story of her wacky half-Jordanian, half-American family, and her childhood, spent moving back and forth between Jordan and the USA. Abu-Jaber uses the narrative to define what it means to be Arab-American. Her novel Crescent is also a very good read.
