A court appointed attorney is chosen from a pool of regular practicing attorneys that have requested to be put on the list They make a set sum per hour, that is paid through the court system.

Many attorneys want to be on the list to be court appointed. It is guaranteed income. The are still free to take on cases from people that have walked in off the street and need their services too.

No. Legal Aid is access to legal services for low/no cost... but it's tyipcally a walk-in situation where folks are asking for advice.

A court appointed attorney is... well... appointed by the Court to represent you in a Court of Law, because you are constitutionally entitled to representation by counsel. If you can't affort one, the court has to provide one for you.

No. Legal aid lawyers do not accept the same types of cases a court appointed lawyer does. They are not criminal defense lawyers (for misdemeanors and felonies).
