I have known one person who was thought to be a spy who was living in a foreign country. When they picked him up, during interrogations they shot off half his face. Gun inside the mouth and point towards the cheek and shoot. Did this to him 2 times, both cheeks... then he was excommunicated from the country. Lost his home, furniture and bank account.

Has had several reconstructive surgeries on his face and is still not OK after 30 years.

Think this is the job for you? Can you handle it?

GOOD LUCK

For starters If you cannot pass a security background check, forget it. Obtain a degree in Psychology, Sociology or Political Science,
Then learn a strategic language- (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, etc.)
Then you apply to the CIA, NSA, etc., -just like any other job.
If you got the degree and can speak and translate a strategic language, You got jourself a job.

It's years and years of training, you have to be especially sneaky at things. One SIMPLE mistake can cost your life. Trust me, spies that work for the USA government have been caught and killed instantly once they were discovered why they were at a certain country.

Training is they key.

to take this question kinda seriously, I think most spies are recruited out of those people who have dual citizenship, and are fluent in at least two languages, preferably with local accents in both.......at least those have been characteristics of historically famous (after the fact, of course) spies. Being hot probably helps too =)

actually, your question got me curious and I checked out www.cia.gov pretty slick website, actually...look under 'clandestine service' to find out more.
