Decriminalization still leaves the profits in the hands of criminals. Full on legalization will put the profits and taxes in the hands of lawful organizations. I'd like to be able to walk into a drugstore(haha) and put down $50 for a pound of good cannabis buds without having to worry about the Gestapo throwing me in a jail cell for possessing a plant.

Bubbles: Caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol are all legal addictive drugs. The difference between cannabis and those drugs is that cannabis has more uses than recreational and medicinal. That, and you cannot physically smoke enough cannabis to overdose.

Unfortunately, no legislator is going to touch this issue with a ten foot pole, in spite of the fact that you can walk into a coffee shop in Amsterdam and LEGALLY buy killer weed, and they don't have a huge "drug problem."

There are other "truths" about the Netherlands that legislators don't want to face as well, such as low teen pregnancy, but on issues like that and marijuana, our legislators are so bound up in a history of lies, fear, denial, etc. that they cannot come out and admit they are WRONG.

But as regards any negative effects on society, alcohol has huge problems (and it's legal of course), and they don't want to open up another "Pandora's Box" of problems.

The "problem" of course, is that some people have self control and common sense and know when and where and how much to enjoy, and some people have no self control whatsoever.........

Your posting tells your preference already....so it did not give people any reason to debate/post.....it is preaching to the choir.....and expecting like mind people to agree with you......and it is why it still is illegal today

when you want to change something you have to step out of your comfort zones and present the fact to those that disagree or have no opinion on the matter............you can talk all day with your hemp friends but the verbiage did nothing to change the situation.

it is why people hate certain positions...they take a stand and push it for people to decide...........i respect them....not for their stands but for making people make a choice..........

people who really believe in what they think is right...fight for it the public arena by putting the facts out to the other side.....but that also means listening to those who disagree you to find out why they feel that way.....to see if you can persuade them to your presentation........give and take,,,,,,,but it does change minds and respect for your cause you were willing to engage them directly

Good Question!!

on one hand i think it would be a good move but on the other hand I'd say no because if it is legalized where does it stop, if it was legal then what drug is next that everyone will say should be legal, where do you draw the line?

Yeah. I think the only thing that is stopping it is the development of a breathalizer type test to see if someone is high.

YES!!!!The laws on the books, are the real crime...they keep the criminal enterprise going by making it a criminal offense to do something that does far less than alcohol does.

Sure. Fine. Whatever. It is still as bad for your lungs as cigarettes, and no, I am not excusing people who drink three bottles of wine a day.

NO! It's bad enough the want to criminalize cigarettes. We already have enough problems with the legal drugs we do have we don't need to add another drug to the list!

No, it is addictive. Alcohol should be a lot more limited as it is addictive.
