It all depends on who you are and what you are willing to do.

The best thing to do is to do something. By that I mean plays, local or national. Go to open casting calls. Get into extra work. Cenex Casting or Central Casting (LA offices) are a great place to start.
Networking is HUGE sometimes its not what you know but who you know. If you are in a drama school or were in one...there is your first chance to network.
