I have been interested in starting a singing career but I don't know where to start. Do I look for a singing coach or do I look for someone who can help me manager my career? I am really serious about this and would like to know what is the best step to really put myself out there. I have no real vocal training but I sang in a gospel youth group when I was younger. Will that be enough?

No it's not. It is all about marketing. You need to build your own audience on the Internet. Internet allows you to reach millions of households a day as well as international listeners. Record a some music and make your own website also get Myspace, Facebook, YouTube (make your own music video), and then link all the pages together. Labels look at how many hits you get on your website. That's how Tequila from shot of love was discovered and Soldier Boy--not that I'm fans. However, if you have talent that will make it even better.

Go to the forums at SingersConnect.net and you can ask questions like this to be answered by associates of a famous vocal instructor in nashville, he trained keith urban. they also have a free tips and advice section.

P.S - NEVER EVER listen to classically trained instructors or people with a 4-year degree in voice because most of the teachers are classically trained and their methods are very obsolete!

Start at singing at weddings.

My cousin sang at my uncle's wedding a few weeks ago. Now she's booked for like 5 more weddings. People she doesn't even know!!! She's on her way to California fo a singing competition. I have a feeling that she's gonna make it big :)

whatever you do..DON'T GO ON SOME STUPID REALITY SHOW!!! if you go to church, ask if you can sing a solo.enter competitions.start singing in small clubs and also, take voice lessons and try to sing other things besides gospel.it'll help alot.i know a little bit because I'm an aspiring musician just like you and I'm just as serious about it.
