My hubby and I would like to strengthen our relationship. We don't have the time to do a marriage retreat per se and the online courses I've seen are outrageous so we thought we'd try a book. Any recommendations with practical applications? PLEASE nothing RELIGIOUS and we don't need help in the sex department either :) . We would just like something a little more applicable. Thanks in advance.

We've done the five love languages book and that was very helpful. I am really looking for something to help us connect again.

Dr. Phill's 'Relationship Rescue' or 'Family First', and 'Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus' I can't remember the authors name, Gray, I think. The title sounds silly but it was life changing for my marriage. Its about communication between the sexes. Best wishes.

The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands, The Proper Care and Feeding of Marriage by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Relationship Rescue by Dr. Phil. If you would like to understand the opposite sex or just want some general "getting along" tips, try Men are from Mars Women are From Venus, and the 10 Stupid Things Couples Do to Screw up their Relationships.

Also, just for your benefit and maybe other relationships benefit, The Five Languages of Apology by Dr. Gary Chapman and Jennifer Thomas. Very informative.

Sometimes, letting go seems like the easiest thing to do. But think about this: you've invested so much of your time and energy into another person; you've made a solemn promise; and you still know there's love, even if it's hiding underneath the surface. This website will show you how to save a marriage and avoid divorce, even if you're the only one trying https://tr.im/CjR6l

I would suggest "The Five Love Languages" by Dr. Gary Chapman. In the book, Dr. Chapman has explained how he has helped a woman to save her marriage from ending in divorce and it has helped them fall back in love with each other. The woman made the changes without her husband making changes that eventually helped her husband to make a few changes as well which made their love grow stronger than they were when they first got married. I hope this helps you both out and wish you both the happiest and best life together. :-)

Constructing the Sexual Crucible. I love this book! I have not read it with my boyfriend, but plan to in the near future. I read it prior to meeting him and think it would be a great way to improve the intimacy in our relationship. It is available on amazon.com. I have not found it in any of my local bookstores--they usually have to order it.
