There is place in India called Kerala, which is also known as God's own country. Here women outnumber men and almost all of them are educated. A family takes the name of the mother as initial. Mostly women are the head of the family and they take the decision. most of the women are working and are economically independent.women excell in many fields here.

They follow a system called 'matru-sattak' which means utmost importance is given to the mother (or leading lady of the household).
And whoever said its got ALMOST 100% is wrong. Its got 100% literacy(not almost 100%)

western Judao-Christian cultures have more respect for women. women are even allowed to own things without asking their father's orhusband's permission. Not so in the asian or Islamic cultures.

in parts of america and ireland. irish are powerfully matriarchal and the woman rules the house. the men, however, are famous for drinking to much booze. but the women are strong and the traditon is the woman makes the final decisions. and the man carries them out. go irish.

Most westernized countries have allowed women to participate in the Gov't.. which is supposed to symbolize that women have the right for everything men can do... BUT not everyone respects that right..

i can't speak for other countrys or even other people, but decision making in our house is done by each member communication his or her needs. the decisions are made by the parents in the household, which includes ME!
