My g/f is 12 weeks along and is saying that she feels like she is getting the flu. She does not have a fever, she has been eating normally, and seems OK. Are flu like symptoms normal during a pregnancy?

This is very normal, I had flu like symptoms the first four months of pregnancy. Its the rising hormone level in the body to due to the baby.
You may even start to feel flu like symptoms or may start to gain wieght with your g/f.
My husband felt pretty much all the symptoms that I did well I was pregnant. He was feeling pregnant also...LOL.
I can not remember what its called but it really does happen.
Have crackers, soups, things light in flavor then this should help, maybe a little seven up. Eating crackers throughout the day helped me alot, with the morning sickness. If it gets so bad she is unable to eat anything, I had a friend that was prescribed some medication for the morning sickness.
I would never reccomend any kind of medication during pregnancy except the prenatel vitamens.

Which flu symptoms is she having? It could just be normal pregnancy fun. If she does get a fever I would call the doctor, otherwise, I wouldnt worry. I am only 19 weeks, and have felt sick most of this pregnancy.

When I was pregnant with my son I felt nauseous almost all the way through and I was short of breath later in the pregnancy cos the baby squashes your lungs and your breathing capacity is less. At 12 weeks the baby is completely formed and just needs to grow alot so she needs to continue to eat well. At this stage she could just be getting the flu so she just needs to rest even more and take care of herself don't take cold and flu medication either I don't think they are good for babies. As far as i am aware flu symptoms are not part of pregnancy Good luck to you both.

With BOTH of my pregnancies I threw up every day from 6 weeks until I delivered both (NOT KIDDING) It sucked so bad. Not to mention heartburn the whole time too. No medications helped. It was a long 9 months oops... i mean 18 months. Hopefully your friend gets better.

Yes, that is why some girls dont know that they are prego, they think they have the flu. Also have you heard the jokes - I got the 9 month flu?

It sounds pretty normal. If it's to severe just have her call her doctor. And the sickness should be faded away in the next month probably.Goodluck

i was throwing up the day i had my first baby.
the joys of mother hood!!!
tell her to try green tea with Mint!
it works wonders! if she is worried tell her too see a doctor! they generally wont do anything for it anymore! but there are things you can take if the baby is at risk.

Sounds like you need to take her to the doctor, maybe she has a vitamin deficiency
