Ping is the amount of time, usually in milliseconds, that it takes for a packet of information to travel to the destination server and back. There are few ways to improve your ping at your local computer. The only good way to improve it is to get a better connection to the internet.

Keep in mind that your ping is going to be better with servers that are geographically closer to you. Someone living in the US would have a better ping with a server in California than they would with a server in the UK.

So, yeah. Get a better internet connection. Don't have as much stuff using your internet connection at once. (stop downloading porn when you want to play)

If you're on a cable modem and you notice that your ping is low in the middle of the night but it shoots up during the day, consider switching to a dedicated line type of internet connection such as DSL, since cable modem speed is dependant on the number of people using cable in your neighborhood.

You need a better connection to the Internet so you can have a better connection to the server.

you probably need faster internet.

Dial up is useless for gaming, so I hope you're not trying with that.

You should have 512kb internet or faster.
