If you're still a student, try Maybelline's. I'd recommend Maybelline's Clear Smooth Aqua Gel Foundation. It's water based so it helps the skin breath more. It's also good if you sweat a lot (like me) but it doesn't wash away easily. It's also very light on the skin. It stays all day long on my face, I was really impressed. If it's your first time to use foundation and would want to buy something affordable yet works really good, try Maybelline's. It's my first use of foundation in liquid for, er gel rather. Oh, I'd also want to recommend Maybelline's mousse foundation. It's also super light on the skin as if it's not there so you won't feel heavy on the face. It comes in different shades to choose from plus they come in cute pots. It's also a must have. Oh and, if you have oily skin, just be sure that your luquid/gel foundations is oil-free and non commedogenic. Hope this helps!

i was with my sister when she went to the Bobbi Brown store and the person working there put on a foundation called "Oil Free even Finish Compact Foundation".
To my surprise, it was easy to put on (with a brush they sell), easily blendable and absorbable, and most importantly, natural looking. It did not look dry and cakey like many other foundations and compacts can turn out. That is going to be my next purchase when i can afford it. They also have a moisturing balm that you can even put on AFTER the foundation if you have any particularly dry spots.
But this is something i just watched, not actually having any put on my face so it's only from a closeup persective although i've seen my sister's face a few times more later with this foundation and it still looked great.
Price is 40 bucks plus more for a brush but it's totally worth it. Their Long wear gel eyeliner I have is awesome too, from first hand experience. i will not buy any other kind.

To hide blemishes, use Physicians Formula Concealer that you can find it any Walmart/Superstore for like 4 bucks. For a light coverage that really looks good and tones, I use MAC Studio Fix foundation with a nice powder brush. The foundation costs 30 bucks but it works very well when I have some uneven face tones. even just a light coverage works!

A good foundation should provide you suitable coverage, protection from impurities (dust), UV protection, and good finishing look.
I am using Laura Mercier! Try their primer and tinted moisturizer (SPF 20, enough for indoor activities), they give you a flawless finish, and the look on you face is light but not very high coverage. If you want a higher coverage for your face, try to use their foundation instead of tinted moisturizer. And I use their concealer too! feeling quite natural. Worth to try!

It depends on your skin type and budget. Cover Girl has a nice inexpensive line. For a bigger budget check out MAC or Bobbi Brown cosmetics. You should try and go to one of those make-up counters that do the free make overs and you can get some really good suggestions.

don't do CLINQUE or MAC...totally drying on your face and clogs your pores with a lot of junk! i just started using bare minerals and its great! really light makeup...feels like nothing on...gives you that famous star glow that you always wished for! Has a great powder conceler called summer bisque that covers everything! this products is all powder made of minerals...that have proven to clear up your face! not drying at all! go check out a store near you called BARE ESSENTIALS...usually can be found at any major mall!

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse apply it with a damp sponge that way it will go on sheer and not look cakey, it gets good coverage though and stays on all day.

try bare minerals.
i have very sensitive skin, and this works wonders for me. the stuff sells itself.
of the women i know who use it, we all get compliments about our 'flawless' complexions. little do people know!
this stuff hides even my large pores. and its preservative free, so its actually good for your skin. 'so pure you can sleep in it' is their motto.
its not cheap, its about 25 bucks for the foundation and about 20 for the finish... but even used liberally, my stuff lasts for about 4 months.
