i've been disappointed lately, but i love SCARY movies... more "that really could happen" than monster stuff... waited for "the descent"... rather let down... i want some ideas for some movies that will have me getting up and checking the door lock every 20 minutes!!! (yay horror flicks!!)

Old movie called "The Town That Dreaded Sundown".
Supposed to be a true story. Scariest movie I ever watched. Especially the scene where the old man is sitting in the chair in front of the window!
Their is also one of the old Halloween movies were Michael Myers is standing on someone's porch and accidentally knocks a flower pot over. For some reason I think of that everytime I hear a bump in the night.
"Dark Night of the Scarecrow" was also pretty good in the "that could happen sense".

You need to look at some of the older stuff like, the evil dead-1981 or the classic, when a stranger calls-1979, if you go for forgien films, go for the audition, it's a japanese film that's really freaky.
Of coarse there are the Saw movies which are pretty dam good

I think what scares you in movies is the unknown. Lately scary movies aren't all that great. I like the old movies. Ex.

The Bad Seed
The Other
The first Exorcist

If I think of more, I'll let you know. I saw Burnt Offerings. That was a weird one.

i saw a movie recently called population 436 (i think, i could be wrong about the number) its weird. Also, Saw- the 1st one freaked me out when the guy came out of the closet, ya know everyone thought there was a bad guy in the closet when they were little. I also like ghost movies cuz ghosts freak me out. oh and High Tension was great too
