Bill Clinton dodged the draft, that's no lie, but at least Clinton was against the war. Bush actually supported the war, but just didn't have what it takes to face his chances with the draft board.
The Texas National Guard had a year and a half waiting list, yet that didn't seem to prevent him from getting a slot overnight. He was in a regiment that had four other sons of politicians and seven Dallas Cowboys! What more evidence do some people need?

Like I said, M. B. at least Clinton was standing up for what he believed in. Bush believed in the war, just didn't want to fight it.

I agree it's an old issue, but it's hard to let go when the prez and his supporters deny it happened...

Ya know, you liberal types make it very difficult to stay moderate. You just keep going and going and crying and crying. You just can't be happy about anything or ever let anything go. Yeah, he dodged, skated, pulled strings, bought his way out...whatever. I just don't care. He would have made a lousy soldier anyway.

That will happen when Mr. Kerry admits that he lied about going into Laos or Cambotia under orders from Mr. Nixon!
His claim that Mr. Nixon sent him there was false because Nr. Nixon was NOT the president at the time that Mr. Kerry says that he was ordered into this other country. If and this is a VERY big if he did follow this supposed order by Mr. Nixon then Mr. Kerry was following an illegal order and that makes him a criminal for following it!

Children of high ranking government officials never go where the action is. The one exception was John McCain whose father was an admiral. McCain was a POW for quite a while. The Viet Cong tortured him without results for quite a long time.

We don't send useful hostages to our enemies. It does not work to our benefit.

As to the National Guard appointment, it does help to have family friends, or doesn't that work where you live?

Hey, here's a news flash. He has already been elected twice and is finishing up his second term. Why are we still going on about this obviously old news?

Another news flash. Children of wealthy families get a pass in wartime pal. I almost wrote that sadly, I did not get a pass, but I am proud of my service. The fact is this, that's just how it works when you are part of a family of privilege. What's the sense in going over it again. The political party doesn't matter, it happens on all sides of the bias. It isn't helping to keep trying to start fights like this and that goes for BOTH sides.

As I said in other places, if you aren't helping a situation, you're just IN THE WAY.

So what? Many people did things to get out of going to Vietnam. Some joined the ROTC and skipped out on service through scholarships and burning the American Flag in the Soviet Union. Others joined the National Guard, went to school, moved to Canada, etc.

About the time Democrats admit he really did attend training - enough to become a highly qualified pilot, in fact. And FYI, Bush's unit had more casualties during his service than Kerry's - look it up. (Flying F-102's is not for the faint of heart.)

Clinton evaded the draft once, and dodged it twice. How come that doesn't cause you morale outrage? Hypocrisy, maybe?
