I watched the video earlier today. It was recorded by a camera phone and the quality of the video was terrible. You could tell that the guy filming was trying to hide it. You can't really see too much that goes on. All you see is Sadam drop, and then a few seconds later a quick view of his face is shown. The whole entire video is only 2 min. 36 sec. long.

Realistically, so that the world woudl know that Saddam has been hung, it was going to be televised. I am surprised that their is a video of the whole hanging and Saddam after he fell through the gallows, but this is the age of the Web, so nothing really should surprise anymore. Personally, I believe that they shoudl bring back public excecutions so that the public knows who committed what crimes, what the penalties are and that the penalties are carried out. Maybe that would deter people from being criminals in the first place.

Executions that are held in inner maximum, as interior the U. S., do not function an sensible deterrent against crime. people do not worry execution as an precis theory, extraordinarily whilst steps are taken to shrink the trauma of it. besides the undeniable fact that, whilst people can for sure visualize a irritating and terrifying execution because of the fact they have witnessed it straight away or by using the media they have a concrete imaginative and prescient of the implications for specific habit of their minds. Any confirm is elementary with that taking a baby away to verbally chastize him in inner maximum is far less sensible a deterrent than chastizing him in front of his friends very flagrantly. Of, that doesn't propose that's the main suitable determination. i've got self assurance that could be a lot low-fee to accomplish public executions besides. First, money is stored whilst each and each witness turns into much less in all probability to commit a criminal offense. i've got self assurance much less money additionally should be spend on kit, as less difficult strategies are employed. It additionally shows a definite comfortability on the area of the two the government and the inhabitants with execution itself. Goverments tend to accomplish judgements they're assume would be supported extra transparently. It demonstrates and reinforces the potential of the government besides. of direction, there are obtrusive damaging effects to public executions. A inhabitants that fears its government feels much less in a position to freely talk its grievances. throughout this style, revolutions are born. It additionally contributes to weakening the government, as people experience much less sympathy and kinship to the people who maximum generally carry out executions: the protection rigidity.

There's a big uproar over that camera phone footage even now. And am I surprised? No. With the popularity of some of the websites I have seen, not much surprises me. No, I didn't watch it, have no desire to watch it. No reason to make a tough situation worse in this way.

It needed to be there, the video i mean. So the masses would acknowledge that saddam was actually dead. This would put to rest any possible conspiracy theories about him and Elvis living in Vegas somewhere.

I'm actually surprised it took as long as it did to get to the masses.
It's certainly less disturbing than seeing "them" decapitate someone.
