Okay, I'm gonna comment on some of the choices offered here, other Answerers, please don't take it personally, don't worry, I loved all of your suggestions but I would just like to point out a few things...

She's the Man- Uh, I think that's for the older kids to watch. Teenage romance, accidental homosexuality and cross-gendering is meant more for matured pre-teens (if you consider pre-teens matured). No that I'm bashing your film, ok_go_kid, I found it amusing too. It's just that it's not meant for kids...

The Incredibles- Awesome movie, just bear in mind there is some moderate violence, frightening scenes, kids being threatened with death and action peril. After all, it was the first Pixar feature to be rated PG. But it is a very wonderful tribute to the superheroes that we love and adore.

Nightmare Before Christmas- Very creatively done, Tim Burton is a genius. Perfect movie for the year-end holidays, and it's now in 3-D! The final boogeyman scene is quite freaky, but otherwise it's very cool and funny.

Shrek 1 and 2- Entertaining pokes at fairy tales and pop culture, but personally I found it quite shallow and devoid of any moral or deeper meaning. You may want to watch for the third movie coming out this year!

Madagascar- Same as Shrek 1 and 2.

The Lion King- Very beautiful Hamlet-inspired motion picture. The sceneries are awesome, you feel and root for the characters (particularly Simba when he teaches his evil uncle a lesson), nice romantic scene with the most sappy love song by Elton John, and the funniest sidekick duos this side of Africa! No complaints here.

Finding Nemo- Undoubtedly Pixar's best next to the Incredibles and Toy Story. Very important lesson in teaching your kids to be independent and just letting go of them, and Dory is simply hilarious as a forgetful blue tang.

Happy Feet- Probably 2006's best creature feature. Tons of fun for the kids, and there are deeper and darker undertones for the adults to ponder about, like religion, acceptance of 'gifted' individuals, and environmental conservation. Just know there's some scenes of mild peril and danger which could scare little ones. Some people say the political themes spoil the movie, but I think it just gives what could have been a cheap, penguin-exploitation movie more meat. Think of it as the Blood Diamond of cartoons and you'll see that this is a very inspiring and uplifting movie despite its hidden messages.

Cars- Ultimately the joy-ride of the year for the whole family. Pixar has put the pedal to the metal to produce the best cartoon of the year in my opinion. This is for gear heads, old-school Americana nostalgics, Nascar fans, and everyone who has even the slightest interest in automobiles and their beauty. The sceneries are magnificent and have a few interesting features if you look closely, the vehicles are breathtakingly realistic, and the warm humour and personalities of the characters will enchant you. You've gotta love it!

Pick the last four films (Lion King, Finding Nemo, Happy Feet, Cars), you can't go wrong. Trust me, you'll love 'em!

I have always loved THE JUNGLE BOOK, the Disney animated movie. Then there is BAMBI and SNOW WHITE. I also like the movies by Chaplin particularly CITY LIGHTS.
ET and JURASSIC PARK are also favorites.
Then there are the Iranian movies THE WHITE BALOON and CHILDREN OF HEAVEN.
And how can one forget THE WIZARD OF OZ.
Among the new movies MATILDA and HOOK are not bad.
Other favorites are these excellent Satyajit Ray films THE ADVENTURES OF GOOPY AND BAAGHA, THE GOLDEN FORTRESS, THE ELEPHANT GOD.
Children should be exposed to all the best films of the world rather then constraining them to Hollywood only.

Finding Nemo is so bright and colorful that even babies will be entertained by it, and then the bigger kids like it, and then the adults tend to appreciate it too. Nemo's got my vote. As far as my own personal favorite though, I'm going to have to say The Incredibles. Man that was EPIC. And Shrek rocks too.

I guess it would depend on your childs age. My 8 and 11 year old LOVED A night at the Museaum, my oldest did not care at all about CHarlottes Web, but my 8 yr old thought it was cute.. but still liked the Museaum movie better.. The entire family LOVED Happy Feet!
