What are your perceptions about English and American people?

it has been said... by a rather noted englishman... "We have everything in common with the americas except a language."
that just about covers it..

The question should be. "What do you expect of eather Britons or Americans. Lets look at one or two things. England is an Island continuant. You can fit at least 3 or more inside the main
land USA. Second the culture of England is a combonation of old
world/king and country.
The United States is larger and made up of many cultures that
have grown together, sometime not to well, over the year. The
people of both UK and US cannot be compaired well. They both share a common back ground yet have taken different directions.
Both countrys are strong and with strong Idenities of who they are.
England is going through a little turmoil now and will in a few
short years shake out the kinks. The United States continues to
shake out kinks because of the diverse attitudes accross the
nation.
If you really want to know. Read a short history of each nation
then visit each for a month or longer. If you are a student spend
time in each country on a student exchange program. Then visit,
explore, and sample the culture in more than one place. Don't
make up your mind by watching the news. You will be miss lead
and your decision will most likely be wrong. Remember the old
addage " Knowlage and experance is only gained by a hands on approch."
PS-- I am an American and not a Australian. I have been to England, Japan, Haiti, Cuba, Philippians, and Vet nam. I have seen good and bad in all places. Because I am an American this answer may not qualify.

americans are a mixture of the world..
therefore, u cannot compare brits to the rest of the world.

I'm not australian but i can certainly tell you the british are far better than the americans, especialy in terms of intelligence. Its even proven.

ENGLAND AND WALES ARE GREAT TO VISIT
I try very hard not to think about america or americans at all,they will eventually catch up socially ime sure !
