This same exact thing has also happened to me. I did the whole uninstall/re-install thing that was on the zune support website. Then I was on the phone with support for over 2 hours. John at tier 2 support had me try several things, none of which worked. Basically, he told me that he would have to send my problem to the "development team" to see if they can resolve it. Apparently this takes 3 or more days and I have to call back. Meanwhile, I'm sitting on a $300 product that I now cannot return to Best Buy because I have opened it! I am calling support back today so if I find an answer to this problem, I will re-post.

Also, it probably has nothing to do with your USB--my computer is recognizing the Zune. It is the SOFTWARE that is not recognizing the Zune!!!!!!

you can't, because zune sucks. and if you can, why would you want to? call it defective bring it back to your store and refund your money, buy something a little less incompetent with your 300 dollars
