Prague is awesome! I went there a couple of years ago. Liked it so much, I spent an extra week there
There was a very good exchange rate when I was there last. If you do go, and you're going to be there for awhile, check out:
- The bone church in Kuta Hora.
- Pubs in the non-touristy part of the city. I found a place near one of the hostel's I stayed at where a mug of their great beer cost me less than a dollar. In the trendy parts of town, drinks will be the same price as in the states.
- The Czech Republic is known for it's amazing crystal. If you want to bring back a nice souvenir for somebody, get some crystal glassware cheap.
- Absinthe. It's legal there.
- The St. Charles Bridge, of course.
It's an exciting place to be.

I went on a 1 month backpacking trip last summer and prague was my absolute favorite! The night life is awesome. I stayed at a real new age hostel called the Czech Inn. Yes, yes, it's a bad pun, but a great hostel. It's right by the tram that can take you anywhere in the city. St. Charles Bridge is great, and how it's right by Prague castle makes for great pictures. If you go to Prague, try to hit up Vienna and Budapest while you're in the area.

Since you are going to be near Brno, I would recommend the nearby towns of Mikulov and Valtice. They are south of Brno, in the heart of the Moravian wine region really quite pretty (though small). To the east Olomouc is a fair sized town with a good deal of historical interest and a couple of great micro-brew pubs. To the north, is one of my favourite cities in the Czech Republic, Hradec Kralove. Famed for its both its early 20th century architecture and its beautifully restored old town, Hradec is full of great bars and restaurants at well below Prague (or Brno) prices.

Yes - I was born there, and go there every year. It's a great place to be, City transportation very good, with tickets good up to 15 days. They're good for busses, street cars, and subway. Many many old places to see. I'll probably go again in March, though the nicest time is around May.

Praque is wonderful, called the "Paris of Eastern Europe" for good reason. Hotels are diffucult, if not non-existent when I visited in '93 and I ended up staying in a private flat that I chanced upon through talking with people. Enjoy!
p.s. the women are beautiful!!!
