its tough to compare players from different eras. If Maravich played now, he probably wouldn't be as good as he was back then, with athletes being so much bigger, faster and stronger. If you want to ask who was better in their era, I'd still take Kobe. Maravich was a wizard with the ball and could do pretty much anything. However Kobe is hands down the best all around player in the league today and also one of the all time greats along with Maravich. No one can match his scoring, and his shut down defensive ability separates him from anyone today. Maravich was a star in his day, but not the defining force like Kobe

Kobe is definitely a better scorer, but they are totally different players from different times. Pete was a Jason Williams/ John Stockton hybrid, but much better than either. Pete is one of the top 50, Kobe hasn't proven a lot w/oShaq, I would have to go w/ Pistol right now...
