Wi Fi is generally the same as a hot spot, yes. the only difference is that technically all "Wi Fi" sites are listed in Intel's wi fi listing. the best way for you to provide wireless internet to your customers is going to be getting a high speed internet connection (preferably something similar to a T3...but they can be pricy). for what you most likely will be serving, a high quality DSL line should be fine. then pick up a nice router (i recomend Linksys) and a router with high transfer speeds. MIMO would be your best bet, as it is based off of proven wireless technology, and MIMO is your fastest wireless option for said technology.

Wi-Fi stands for wireless fidelity, which basically means a wireless LAN that utilizes 802.11x.

a Hot Spot is a location that offers free Wi-Fi Internet service.

I would search the yellow pages for a consultant that specializes in implementing Wi-Fi in a commercial environment...

Wi-Fi (also WiFi, wifi, etc.) is a brand originally licensed by the Wi-Fi Alliance® to describe the underlying technology of wireless local area networks (WLAN) based on the IEEE 802.11 specifications.

Basically, it's the wireless hookup to the Internet (or Local network, if you were at work, school)

A hot spot is where wi-fi access is available (sometimes for a fee) to the public...Like in bars, hotels, public libraries, etc....

Wi-Fi is a wireless internet connection. An internet hot-spot is a certain public location where you can connect to a wi-fi signal. Sometimes it's free, but other times you have to pay for it.

Like the other person said - contact either comcast (or some other cable provider) or sprint/embarq (for dsl) - and see what they offer - being a hotspot is being a place where people can come use the wi fi network - but you probably want to have a password protected access - for customers to only be able to log in if they come into your coffee shop. It doesn't make sense to pay for people sitting in their cars, using your network...

The easiest way would be to pay some one.
If you are a do it your self, you need a broadband connection, particularly one that is fairly quick, and Wireless access points, found at any electronics retailer. Plug in a networking cable from Internet source to wireless routers, and then read the instructions for any specifics.

The answer is WI-FI is the local area network (LAN) you set up
It can be run off a buisness line connection such as Comcast cable and then run through a router. Then people can use their mobile devices work on your network just make sure to set a fire wall so they do not hack you :)) have fun

Call up your cable modem company or your DSL company and they will take it from there. Hot spot will be your place so all who are within range can use your network.

Wi fi is a bit misleading as it is not completely wireless. You have to have a DSL connection or a cable modem. Landline way too slow. Don't even think about it. T1 is best, actually.
