This is definitely a big problem. If you know that you've been depressed, but are suddenly feeling happy about WHY you were depressed it may signal false hope and self-induced happiness. It's similar to the eye of the storm, a peaceful time in the midst of chaos. Once it passes your life crashes again, this time maybe even worse.

What your feeling is a sense of loss and false hope. You admitted it wasn't possible as well. Once it becomes apparent again that what you wish for will never come true your life may come to another crash.

I've felt this exact same way before, even now. I kept on dreaming of going back into the past, to get a second chance to correct what I did wrong. For now, time travel isn't possible. Slowly accept that nothing can be done about the past except to learn from it.

Hopefully you are coming out of the depression or the break up. Everyone has experienced that hurt when someone you are totally caught up with or in a long relationship and it breaks up. Even a short lived relationship can be very emotional if one person is left behind. Music is actually a good release of emotion it can make you sad, happy or bring back good memories of that relationship. Sometimes I have to even turn off certain songs that make me sad. If I am at home alone it's a good release to cry and get those emotions out. Maybe you are ready to move on or not..and that is ok. I was horribly emotionally hurting over this guy and someone else came into my life unexpectedly but I still had feelings for the other one. Sometimes you must just date to get your mind off of the one you love or loved. I did and it took awhile but I am still with the one that came along later and we are happy and I really could care less about the one that broke my heart.

Sounds like you have depression because of the length of time you have felt this way and the feelings you are having. You also know that if you need to you can go see a psychologist, you are chosing not to. Just think about it this way, if you were diabetic you would do whatever you had to do whether it be medication or seeing a doctor about it. Treat depression the same way. You would be suprised how much better you will feel if you go. There is no shame is getting help.

sounds like you are holding onto hope that you and she will get back together. That hope along with the music puts you into your own world, but it may not be reality especially since you say it's not possible. Any way to talk to her and just ask of the possability? If she says no, then it's time to move on....or you will fall into depression. Don't let yourself do that...but first, let go of that high hope and just think of it as a possibilty until you know for sure.
