When you ask stupid questions, they're recognized as such, so people feel safe in playing dumb in not recognizing the question as intentionally stupid, and displaying their "knowledge."
When a serious question is asked, more often than not, it's taken as a chance to display "wit" because of fear of not being right, or whatever they're afraid of. They're not willing to make a statement of what they believe, even though they have complete anonymity.
I am not ashamed of what I believe, or of stating it.
