Not much, I would recommend a PC

Internally they are different, but very similar. The Apple tries to release a new Mac when they can get a faster processor in it than a PC has. Several Months ago Apple released an operating system that would allow people to use Windows software on a Mac; they finally gave up trying to beat Microsoft.

The latest Mac Operating System (OS) is better than the latest Windows OS (formally XP, now Vista) because Microsoft releases their products before they work out all of the bugs and then offer service pack and other updates. Apple doesn't do that, when they release their OS they have tested it thoroughly. Windows is a rip-off of Mac's OS and they were sued because of it, which is why the Trash Can is called a Recycle Bin on Windows and a Trash Can on Macs. Microsoft is famous for doing things like that, such as selling DOS (the first OS) to IBM before they had even purchased the product.

There are die hard Mac fans, but they are moving in an increasingly smaller circle, and they have to pay more because of it. The main reason why the Mac has such a small market is because Apple doesn't release its designs for its computers (Mac has a closed Architecture, in the 1980s this was common and there were almost 50 different brands of computers). This makes it harder to write software for Macs, and only Apple makes the hardware for Mac, so there is no competition except from the PC market.

Over 90% of the home computers are PCs that use a version of Windows for the OS. There are also thousands of brands of PC, because IBM used an open architecture--they released the design of the computer (the 50 different brands of computer of the 1980s dropped to only two because of the PC and IBM doesn’t even make the best PCs). This makes it easier to make components for it and to write programs for it. It also means that the amount of software available for the PC is about 10X the amount for a Mac. It does mean that there are more viruses written for the PC, but that's because kids don't bother to write them for a Mac (viruses are only used for advertising or when kids want to be destructive—most of those kids are called Script Kiddies and their viruses are based on old viruses so they are easy to defeat).

There are 4 Internet Programs for PCs, and 1-2 for the Mac (I think Netscape has one, but not Mozilla or Firefox--but I might be wrong). Microsoft Office is considered the industry standard, but Star Office is almost as good and far cheaper (sometimes free). Star Office can do the same things as Microsoft Software, but it has a much smaller number of users. Sun Systems (who makes computers larger than PCs and Macs) released Star Office just to compete with Microsoft. Of course Microsoft invented the first Spread Sheet, Word Processor, Presentation Software and Data Base Software all packaged together and made to work with each other. Star Office and the Linux based version were built upon Microsoft’s earlier work.

You probably saw the Mac commercials where a hip young guy represented the Mac and a guy in a suit represented the PC. The commercials series (by Apple) tried to highlight the differences between the two computers. Mac pointed out that a lot of software works better on their machines, which may be true because of the clunky Windows OS. They tired to say that the PC was only good for business use. That's because most business use PCs, but the X-Box is a modified PC, and more games are made for the PC. Any games made to work on a Mac, except those made by Apple, were designed first to work on a PC and then if possible modified to work on a Mac.

If you want to learn computers, not just how to type on them, but to put them together and make them work in a network then forget the Mac. Macs can do that, but over 90% of the time the PC is used instead. Since the design of the PC is well known it is easier to make third party equipment that can connect to it. Including the mainframe computers that huge businesses, governments and major universities have. Mac could interface with them, but in again in over 90% of the situations these main frames get connected each other and to a PC.

The Mac and PC computers themselves are very similar, one may be faster, but in the next generation the other will be faster and so on. The Mac OS is superior but 90% of people use Windows Software and the Windows OS. PC equipment is cheaper, than Mac and you will have a wider variety available. With Apple you will have one video card, and one modem, etc. You can buy PCs in pieces and assemble them or have a company like Dell do it for you. You can customize your PC more than you can a Mac, even if you let someone like Dell build you a complete system (just check out http://www.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/notebooks?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19)

The third OS is Linux, which is designed to run on PCs. It is much better than anything Windows releases, and it is a less clunky software. However, there is less software for the Linux OS than there is for Windows machines. But, Linux does have Red Hat software that does all that Microsoft Office does and they charge a $10 or a little more.

MAC = You can be a Mac user if you want to be in the elite and work with a small minority of fanatic users without a wide software range or a wide range of hardware varieties.
PC = Everybody else uses a PC because they have more software and hardware choices, the hardware is cheaper (since the market is more competitive), and so much else is made to work with PCs even its rival OS Linux.

Only Apple makes Macintosh computers; Dell, IBM, Sony, Toshiba, and a lot of other companies make Windows computers. PC actually just means Personal Computer, but it has come to imply a windows computer.

Newer Macs (those using Intel chips) can run Mac OS X, Win XP, and Vista. Macintosh computers are better designed and have a tendency to be better built then their Windows counterparts, but they are also priced accordingly.

The Macintosh operating system (OS), Mac OS X, is generally considered more aesthetically pleasing and user-oriented then Windows, while Windows tends to be more utilitarian. While many applications run on both systems (Microsoft Office, Adobe and Macromedia multimedia products, etc), many games and some applications do not run in OS X.

Hardware wise, nowadays Macs and PCs are very similar. Several years ago, they had completely different processors and you wouldn't be able to run Windows on a Mac at all. On today's Intel based Macs, you can run Windows on your Mac.

Software wise, Macs and PCs (Windows PCs) are very different. Mac OS X is built upon FreeBSD, a Unix variant, which is completely different from Windows. FreeBSD is similar to Linux (in that they are both Unix-Type operating systems.

Both are usually appeals for things you ask for selfishly or ought to take care of yourself. The Lottery costs you a around 70 cents for each dollar of return on the long term, and it has only materialistic benefits. Prayer doesn t cost you anything, the results are based on the request s agreement with the perfect divine plan, and it can have eternal benefits. The Lottery will break your bank account, but investing in prayer builds your heavenly account -- if you have accepted the deposit that s waiting to take you out of the red.
