if i coached the lions i would make the team lose it would of been better for both teams lions to get 1st draft pick and for dallas to have a chance to get homefield advatage in the playoffs the lions lost by winning

Winning is all that matters. If you want your team to lose for a draft pick, then you are not a true fan. Do you expect a coach to tell his players to lose on purpose? not that they should. They also make money by winning (contract agreement). And right now, they have some momentum heading into next year, cause they knocked off dallas in dallas, and a much more of a different mindset than if they had lost that game.

PS- Al Davis might fall in love with a freak of nature like Calvin Johnson and grab him, but the lions have just fired their defensive coordinator, and may be looking to switch to the 3-4. with redding, rogers, and cody, then bailey, sims, kalimba edwards, and now possibly Gaines Adams

Winning is the most important thing

I think that the Lions needed a win more than they needed one position in the draft. The #2 overall pick is almost just as good, and the Lions should trade down to get more picks anyhow. The win on the road (remember when they didnt win on the road for 2+ seasons?) was way more important. The media has chalked it up as a "meaningless win", but if you saw those guys on the sideline when Tony Romo was stopped at the 1 yard line, you would know how important that win was. Confidence is very underrated (how do you think the Lions got into this mess in the first place?).

They didnt want Quinn anyway, they already tried to draft a franchise QB in Joey Harrington and look how that turned out. They're probably going to trade down and get some help on the O-line or in defense anyway. It was probably more important to them to end the season on an up note and beat a playoff team for the morale boost going into the offseason.

it was not stupid because when you are a football team you do not want to lose. I mean it is pretty humiliating losing on purpose and football was not meant to be that way that is why the nba has the draft lottery so the basketball teams do not lose purposly to get 1st overall or high draft pick

You have to play every game to win. First pick in this years draft isn't as significant as it was last year or at least was suppose to be last year.
