I downloaded some ringtones and they show up as "Windows Media Audio file" under the properties but when I try to load them in a ringtone convertor software as WMA file, it does not recognize it? Thanks!

There may be 2 reasons.

1. You may not have the proper plug-ins or add ons installed on your O/S
2. The file is not downloaded properly / completely.

One of the reason could be, When you install other audio software (for example, Winamp), at the installation time, by default the box is ticked for association of .wma files with that software. It could be a reason. You can write click on .wma file, choose open with, choose windows media player (and dont forget to tick the box that says, next time only open with media player). Give it a try. Thankx

sometimes people give the file extension as different than the actual file type. did you try playing these files in some media player, check the file under the media player for properties.
