There are a good number of theories (each with evidence) to support various interesting phenomena in the Bermuda Triangle. Ships and planes have disappeared throughout the triangle, but there is no real evidence to support that these disappearances occur at ay greater a rate than any other part of the ocean. One theory discusses a greater amount of methane hydrates being released into the water and air which would reduce the density of the surrounding water and air, which would then cause the boats and ships to go down. Also, the gulf stream, which is a naturally occuring phenomena, causes currents to be greater in this (and a few other parts) of the ocean than in many parts around the world. The currents can carry boats off course and can carry stalled boats or water landed planes far away from their original locations. And another theory is that of "freak waves" to which there is evidence to support this theory. Freak waves are usually caused by underwater earthquakes or far away storms, although their actual origin is still unknown.

So far, there is no real evidence to support or deny any of the theories (both the scientific or the mysterious) as the ocean is far to vast and boundless to truly study in that form of manner. Everything listed above are theories and are as of yet unproven, but are the most common of the scientific theories with the most support and evidence.....

Nothing out of the ordinary. A lot of ships sink there because a lot of ships sail through that area. The rate of shipwrecks and disappearing there isn't any higher than anywhere else on the sea once you take that into account.
