i use DbPowerAmp Music converter its really good it has alot of options it comes with codecs for almost any type of converting and know its free go there u might like it

you can download itunes in www.apple.com
if u have itunes open ur itunes then select edit, then preferences, click the advance tab, then the importing tab modify this:
Import Using - MP3 Encoder (change to this)
Settings - (it is up to you)
then click OK
if you files are in a folder use itunes to open that folder and it will convert all your song to mp3 files(according to your importing preferences)
or you can just drag all your files to itunes and it will alson convert them to mp3
if you want to find those files you converted go to my documents, my music, the iTunes folders, the iTunes Music (you will find it in there)
so you can just drag anywhere you want those converted files
or the easiest way of all download and install a mp3 converter and convert your files
P.S. i suggest the site www.download.com they have good converters there
