My granny before she died said that the carter family were almost single handedly responsible for the origins of country music. Does anyone know more about this than me? I know that people say it came from england and the carters migrated so tell me a little of my family history? I know one of the carters also married johnny cash.

the carter family had a big hand in pioneering country music/bluegrass but there was others in that time also. the one that married the man in black(johnny cash) was june carter. mama carter was a strong matriarch of the family my hat is off to her may they all rest in peace.
