I actually tried to do that with two Frontier Speedstream DSL modems with two of my computers in the house. What will usually happen is one modem will connect successfully but the other modem won't (the other modem will usually try to find the dsl signal from the phone line, the DSL training light will be blinking) In essence, only one DSL modem can use the line at any given time. The best way to split a DSL connection is with a wireless or wired router.

connect the LAN output from the ADSL modem to not a working laptop or laptop yet as a substitute to a router. the router is a change that shall we a set of desktops share the information from the internet. It additionally makes up a set of fictitious addresses so as that in case you have 3 desktops the exterior international in easy terms sees a million handle (that of the router) yet each and all of the three desktops gets individual data from the router. in case you desire to do it at the cheap then get a under pressure out router and run a LAN cable to each and all of the desktops. in case you desire to spend a splash greater and get it greater handy the get a prompt router and a card for each laptop. Then the comparable issues happen with none wires and you need to use the desktops at desks, in the exterior , or everywhere else around the homestead. you do not could pay the ISP greater because of the fact all the ISP sees is the single handle for the router. report sharing after this is merely clicking on disk properties and allowing "share records"

do you really want to waste the money on 2 dsl modems? your best bet is to go out and get wireless router and card for the computers. that way you can run a wireless network in your house without having to purchase 2 dsl modems. and it sounds silly to have 2 anyways.

it won't work. the account profile loaded in the DSLAM at the digital facility will only issue one IP address to your account if you are only paying for one IP address.

just get a wireless router, problem solved.
