Someone is either Jewish or not Jewish, and can't be half. Most Jews believe that someone is Jewish if his or her mother was Jewish, or if he or she converted under certain requirements.
That being said, there are some liberal Jewish sects who recognize the child of a Jewish man and non-Jewish woman as a Jew, but they are a minority of the population.

The law is because only the mother knows the true paternity of the child(ren) there for it is carried down through the mother.
For the ones that have a jewish father and no jewish mother, I guess it would depend on what kind of jew they are since there are a few different types of jews (orthodox, hiacidic, non-practicing, etc)

It is right. They are not lying , they are part jewish. A woman that is not Jewish is a Shixa, a man that is not jewish is a Goya. I am not sure what the offspring of a Shixa mother and a Jewish Father is.

It's what you feel. Religion is a choice. Anyone can choose to be Jewish regardless of what religion their parents were. If your father is Jewish and your mother is not, but you identify as Jewish and worship as a Jew, then you are Jewish.

Jewishness is passed on via the mother. If the mother is Jewish, the child is 100 percent Jewish. Otherwise, you're not at all Jewish.

That person would of course have Jewish heritage through the father's side. But the person would not be Jewish himself. If he wanted to be Jewish, he would need to undergo a kosher conversion.

If you were orthodox and your mother wasn't Jewish than you wouldn't be considered Jewish. Other wise to some extent it's a personal choice.

Anyone can convert to Judaism so I see no reason why a person who's father is Jewish can't say they are Jewish.

Jew is a religion, so if one of your parents is not a jewish, but you choose to be a jewish then you are a jewish. Jewish is not a race or some kind of bloodline. If you marry a jewish and you wish to convert to become one then you can.
