wow! i could be here all night answering this question. we get stress from everbody, everywhere, everything. Personally, my main cause is pressure. The pressure to do good in school, fit in, have time for friends, family, and my boyfriend. School alone is a major stress factor...trying to get your homework done, study for tests, be to school and classes on time, and exams. Teen stress sounds overrated but in reality we have as many factors contributing to it as most adults. It's not easy being our age. Times have changed greatly. More and more teens are turning to drugs or alcohol to be cool, fit in. Sometimes it seems like parents dont understand how important it is to us to fit in and have friends even if it means doing something we shouldnt. So we have the stress of friends vs. family. If we do something with frieends that makes parents mad we're screwed and if we dont do it we have the risk of not fitting in, which doesnt seem like a big deal but it means a lot. If you dont fit in, you get more stress and depression from being picked on and such.

Adolescence can be a challenging time with youth experiencing biological, psychological, and social changes. Both normative stressors (such as moving from middle school to high school), as well as non-normative stressors (such as parental divorce) have been linked to an increased risk of such internalizing behaviors as depression and anxiety.

hormones and puberty have a large impact. teens sometomes worry about their self image and want to be part of cliques and groups. I am a teen, so I should know.
