I would give them a goldfish. This is because a goldfish has a memory span of about three seconds. You can hurt it, but in time the goldfish will forgive you because it couldn't even remember what caused it such pain. Such is the human race, repeating mistakes time and time again throughout history never learning the error of their ways. Also, a goldfish swims about in it's own filth, filling it's tiny container with it's fishy droppings, hello, can you say mass pollution?

I agree with "Happyhead" -- a book, because man's quest for knowledge is unending and universal. I also thought of an olive branch to represent peace, because I truly believe that most people on Earth want peace.
