In order to keep their species living on. Living things' main purpose is to reproduce, and keep their species from dying out.

When spirits acquire especially awful karma, they spend the next life standing still in the freezing cold for months on end to think about what they have done. Morgan Freeman periodically narrates to remind us of this.
If penguins stopped reproducing, the species would go extinct, thereby sending evil spirits into bodies that could affect our lives. They would plague us, uncorrected by nature, with their presence. We would cry out for justice and find none.
In short, penguins reproduce for justice.

All living things reproduce. They probably find a mate then they...well, mate because it is genetically programmed for them to do so.
Specifically, mating probably happens because the penguins have enough food and the sunlight tells them it's the right season. Nature then takes its course.

Is this question for real? For the same reason that every other species (including mankind) on earth reproduces. To keep the species alive.

Its an in-stink that they walk miles and days with out food to go to a mating place and pick a mate and only mate that one. Lay the egg and the male travels again and then comes back with food for the then hatched baby who hasn't touched the ground or it would die. Many males don't make it back and then the baby and most of the time mother die. this is so strange but is the truth.
