Excellent question.... I teach personal finance here in South Florida ( I'm a financial planner ) This subject is very dear to me...

ALL my clients have at least 6 months of available funds in the event of emergency, including myself!

The sad truth about that question is that the majority of people live from paycheck to paycheck and couldn't live beyond a few weeks without any income. The rich get richer, and all that!

That happened to me almost 4 years ago. My husband had a stroke, a bad one. We had the money then, but.. we don't now. He will never be able to work again. You never know what will happen!
