It's ironic that many of the countries that broke away from Russia (USSR) are now democratic - yet Russia seems to be slowly drifting back into a communistic state.
So much corruption and political squabbling that a strong centrist government seems the only solution.
And Putin doesn't seem particularly interested in sharing any of his power through any kind of democracy - and this certainly doesn't help matters any, either.

Communism isn't a government type, it's an economic system, a lot of people get that wrong. Totalitarianism is what follows Communism since if people don't get to chose what they can do economically then the political and private restrictions come in (so it can keep the people that don't want communism in order).
You could rephrase the question to "Do you think Russia will fall back to totalitarianism?"
And my answer is that if could if it is following that path it's going. I do not know much of post-Cold War Russia but it does seem to recline to it's former doings. Critical reporters are getting killed, people now unknowingly become afraid of speaking out against the government.
No one can be sure if they can tell if Russia is starting to pull the curtains back, I have no formal knowledge (don't think most people do) on Russia's domestic actions but it could gradually decline to totalitarianism.

Russia is and always has been a totalitarian state. That country has a long way to go before they have a government that truly represents the people, however that has nothing to do with communism. It's run by oligarchs who robbed the treasury blind through the privitization process after the fall of the USSR. An oligarchy is about as far from socialism as you can get.

Communism is a economic system that has failed in Russia. The present government entered the halls of power pretending to be democratic and saying that they were going to introduce democracy to the country. Putin has been steadily dismantling any democratic institution that existed. It is not the restoration of communism but the enthroning of a Tsar that we should be expecting.

Most of what you hear is propaganda. Try getting your international news from a non-US source, like Xinhua or Agence-France Presse.
