blog
A blog (short for weblog) is a personal online journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs are defined by their format: a series of entries posted to a single page in reverse-chronological order. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or reflect the purpose of the Web site that hosts the blog. Topics sometimes include brief philosophical musings, commentary on Internet and other social issues, and links to other sites the author favors, especially those that support a point being made on a post.
The author of a blog is often referred to as a blogger. Many blogs syndicate their content to subscribers using RSS, a popular content distribution tool.

Website

A Web site (we prefer the two words rather than Website) is a collection of Web files on a particular subject that includes a beginning file called a home page. For example, most companies, organizations, or individuals that have Web sites have a single address that they give you. This is their home page address. From the home page, you can get to all the other pages on their site. For example, the Web site for IBM has the home page address of http://www.ibm.com. (In this case, the actual file name of the home page file doesn't have to be included because IBM has named this file index.html and told the server that this address really means http://www.ibm.com/index.html.)
Since it sounds like geography is involved, a Web site can be confused with a Web server. A server in this context is a computer that holds the files for one or more sites. A very large Web site may reside on a number of servers located in many different geographic places. IBM is a good example; its Web site consists of thousands of files spread out over many servers in world-wide locations. But a more typical example is probably the site you are looking at, whatis.com. We reside on a commercial space provider's server with a number of other sites that have nothing to do with Internet glossaries.

The word 'blog' stands for 'web log'. A blog is a website that allows its owner to publish their content (text and photos) very easily, without any programming knowledge.

Blogs are easy to use, but have sophisticated programming beneath the surface. When you publish an article, the blog automatically displays the articles in chronological order and also udpates a table of contents (links) that other users can use to read your articles. Blogs also allow you to select from an available set of web designs.

The simplicity of blogs have made them extremely popular and people even use them as their online diaries.

Unlike blogs, if you wanted to maintain a normal website, you would need to know at least web designing, HTML and a few other scripting languages. Blogs do away with the need for you to become a geek, allowing you to enjoy the experience of posting your thoughts and photos on the Internet.

Most popular blogs also allow you to customize the look and feel of your blog to a great extent. None of this requires any technical knowledge.

Well i think a blog is more of like an online journal, where it is open to the public. And a website, if you are referring to a personal home page, is different because it doesnt have all that information, at least not in the same format as a blog.

Well a "Blog" isn't a website in the sense that , A, you dont own it, B, it's only used for personal writing, think of it as a "diary", and C, you cannot customize it or add special things to it, sure you can change the layout, but not customize it. While in a website, A, you own it, B, it is not only used for writing, it is used as a multimedia center, news center or anything you want, and C, you can customize it and add things and make it look a special way just like yahoo.com v.s a typical xanga weblog.

Usually, your blog is just your online diary. There are tons of blog hosts out there, like Blogger and such. With blogs, you can rant about stuff, or post writing that you've done.

Websites are people's little corner of the Internet. They can put up animations, junk, spam, games, whatever they like.
