Age is nothing but a number, and blind eyes see no flaws. If she loves him and he loves her and they are happy, let it be.

Both should be perfectly accetable. And younger generations do not find it as polarised as it once was.

The reasons behind the social acceptabilty of men taking younger wives over women taking younger husbands does have it's roots in preconceived gender ideas.

Women "used" to be seen as play things, objects and eye candy to be displayed among the wealthier aristocrats and higher ranking members of society. The old adege "swap the wife in for a younger model" was socially accepted.

Although society now doesn't accept this attitude any longer, the "social acceptability" of it lives on.

The opposite for woman though. Women, who were suposed to be the trophy among the aristicracy were not seen to be "worth" much either academically or financially. So if a woman took a younger husband she was seen as a "gold digger" Only marrying for money and status and not being able to grow old gracefully and was not seen as socially acceptable. How dare a woman use a man for money, but a man could use a woman for her looks and youth.

Unfortunately the stigma hasn't really gone out of that one either. So woman are still looked down upon for doing what men can quite aceptably do among the older generations.

I KNOW things are changing, but very very slowly and there IS still an air of unacceptability in society for a woman to take a younger man.

I think two people should love each other because of the things that they both find special and they accept about one another.

I think when people go for the younger generation it's mainly because we all would like to stay young when we get older. I used to think that it would be nice to be with a younger guy mainly because the reality is I needed to come to terms about my age.

A dear friend of mine who is also older pointed that out to me. Food for thought and it made me realize that it shouldn't be a wild goose chase about our ages. It should be about the person whom we fell in love with.

As soon as we get past the ordeal about the age thing. Your not getting any younger syndrome and learn to accept ourselves as we are at any age then we won't complicate things for ourselves any more.

In marriage relationships they say that since girls mature earlier than the boys by about 5 to 6 years, the boy should be that much older. This is the only logic otherwise there is no harm if the boy is younger.
However it is found that girls too prefer guys who are older to them.

But it is ok. No-one needs anyone's approval, people should live their life how they please. In this day and age, it a pretty common occurance to see an older women with a younger man. It would have been almost unheard of 30 years ago. HTH : )

Unless the guy is underage, then there is nothing wrong with a woman being with someone six years younger than her.

Unless the relationship is illegal in the eyes of the state, I don't think it matters who is older than whom. Date who you want and have fun!

It's okay either way if both are adults. I wouldn't go for it if the woman is an adult and the boy a teenager; basically is she could get it for statutory rape. BTW that statutory rape thing also goes for the men.
