If she is determined there is not much you can do. However I would do a little research and find out what the infection rate is for piercings like this and share it with her. My friend got his lip pierced and said it was very painful and ended up taking it out within a week as he thought it looked tacky. Also I don't know her age but you may want to point out that depending on the type of job she is going to be looking for in the future, a lip piercing probably wouldnt go down too well. I know a lot of schools don't allow it either.
Some people can really pull this look off, but in my opinion the majority cannot.

No offense, but it's her lip and her life. Honestly, it's her decision to make. She may be perfect without it and it may make her look silly (very likely), but she's going to have to learn on her own.
The only thing I would say is ask if she's considered that she'll likely develop scar tissue around the piercing that will never go away. If she ever takes out the piercing (something I can almost guarantee if she ever wants a decent job), she'll be stuck with the scar tissue which will both look and feel odd.
If she's still not swayed, suggest a tongue piercing. That is far less obvious and, though it can still scar, is far more likely to heal better than the lip. You may not like that option either, but if it keeps her from getting a lip piercing, you may just have done her a favor.

if she wants 2 get 1 let her at the end of the day as long as she goes somewhere clean and looks after it she wont have a problem. anyways she can always take it out. Rather than trying to convince her its a bad idea why not be a supportive friend and help her decided on the most sensible places because if she wants it done bad enough she will just go and then you might have a bigger problem?! x

I wonder, if your friend, realizes, how she will damage her teeth, by having her lip pierced?
The jewellery, will gradually scratch the enamel, off her teeth, which in term, will cause, the un-protected teeth, to decay and discolour.
Perhaps, show your friend, how upset you are, that she will be ruining her natural Beauty, to be like others, with the excess jewellery.... Give her a £1.00, for each week. that She doesn't get her lip pierced... Eventually, your friend, will realize, how serious you are and she *might* come to the conclusion, that you are right and return the weekly £s... or take you out for a 'Thank You' meal... As YOU, will have saved her from making a silly mistake.
Good Luck.

its really gotta be up to the person who wants it. I have my labret pierced (middle of lip) and really really liked it at the time.
was a bit of a hassle for work but could take it out not long after.
I did go off it for a while and took it out with a barely noticable scar but I was still able to have it back in 2 years later. I changed my mind now according to my mood so I can have it in or take it out.
Really let your friend decide, if it will make her happy you should be happy to. Its not going to do her permanent harm and there are very few health risks, as long as she gets it done by a proper piercer.

My excuse for my aunt to avoid nose piercing was that it looked like a shining booger. It didn't stop her, but I am just her niece. And it did seem to make her think. And I think that if I would have pushed the matter, it might have worked. Worth a try at least. Maybe you could combine the infection, the tacky, the sick, etcetera.

It's how she feels she wants to express herself and by trying to persuade her not to is a form of oppression, You have made your case and she chooses to go ahead, if she doesn't like it she can always take it out and the hole will close in time, There will only be a slight spot after a while so it's not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

i completely understand your frustration 'reason i've got been given a similar habit, it drives me nuts! i do no longer do it almost as much as i used to however, partly out of dedication (each and every so often while i'm doing it i only tell myself 'give up biting lip', each and every so often it works.) yet for me, if i can not give up, one element i'm going to do is brush my teeth or use mouthwash, despite if my teeth are already sparkling, 'reason doing so looks to coat my mouth/lips quickly, i assume w/ flouride or menthol or something. It kinda soothes the exterior and makes me no longer want to chew it as lots. good success :D

don't worry if she hates it all she has to do is take it out and leave if for a few days. lip piercings never fully heal and the hole will start to close up within 12 hours of taking out the piercing.

Just tell her that it might get infected and do serious damage to her lip and her teeth.
Also tell her that its a big turn off for guys.
I'm not a guy but i personally think that lip piercings are ugly.
