Papaya is a tasty fruit and it is an excellent source of Vitamin-C,and folate, also good source of vitamins A, and E. Also rich in dietary enzyme papain and Potassium. On the whole it is a healthy food for everybody.

Similarly Pineapple is another fruit from South America with rich
nutritional value. Perhaps this is the only fruit rich in enzyme called Bromelain, which helps in curing Gout and Arthritis. Also encourage digestion. This fruit is rich in fiber. Pineapple juice relieves intestinal disorders.

Some how in India these two fruits have earned a false reputation of not good for pregnant women. The reason may be some thing other than medicinal.

Unless she is allergic, then there is no reason why a women who eats pineapple when she is not pregnant should not eat pineapple when pregnant. Some people maintain that fresh pineapple is a miscarriage/early labour inducer because it contains bromelain, which may or may not soften the cervix. However, please note that there is very little actual reliable medically produced information on this, it is still debated - and given the amount of bromelain actually in the average whole fresh pineapple, you would have to eat about 8-10 of then in one sitting for the broemlain, if it did have any effect, to actually even start to have any effect. And by that point, you would either be too full to move or would have a mammoth dose of the trots - pounds and pounds of fresh fruit can have a laxative effect. It is also worth noting that bromelain is destroyed by the canning process - this only applies to fresh pineapple. Eat on, enjoy!

Different food items are believed to be harmful and beneficial in the various Indian communities. Some beliefs are often associated with the concepts of ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ foods. In Indian communities food items perceived as ‘hot’ are often believed to be harmful for pregnant women..
Some ‘hot’ food items are meat, egg, fish, onions, garlic, papaya, pineapple, mango, black berry, suran and so on. The general concept of avoiding these food items was that they caused premature delivery, miscarriage, or abortion...but it is not a proven one..

even doctors advice to take papaye and pineapple during pregnancy which help ward off the nausea... PAPAYA and fresh pineapple can help ease nausea and heartburn. Try using fresh papaya or pineapple whizzed up with a banana to make a nutritious breakfast smoothie

I hope not, because I had some pineapple about three minutes ago, and I'm pregnant.

Seriously, I don't think there is anything wrong with eating those fruits. Pregnant women are ENCOURAGED to eat fresh fruits. Check with your doctor, but I really think it should be just fine.

according to ayurveda, these two fruits generate heat in the body and it's not reccomended to eat foods that generate extra heat in ur body during the first trimester.first trimester is very delicate period of the pregnancy. so i would suggest u to restrain eating these fruits if you are in ur first trimester. there are some scientific reasons to why old people had some notions about some food intakes during particular time periods. it's better to be cautious than sorry!! sometimes one has to understand the reason behind some suggestions than just ruling it out completely. if u are living in a hot climate i m sure u won't consume hot foods to increase the temperature of ur body.all the best for future!!
