We have freedom of religion in this country. That means a Muslim can serve in elective capacity.

For the record, Keith Ellison, AKA Keith Hakim, Keith X Ellison,Keith Ellison-Muhammed is not a real Muslim. He is affiliated with the Nation of Islam. That's Calypso Louie's group (Farrakhan). The Nation of Islam is a sort of black KKK, not a religious group.

He is an ignorant racist who's ignorance became apparent when he said that we should close the border so Muslims wont get elected into congress.
Ellis is an African American who's family was here since the 1700's.
What Virgil Goode probably doesn't realize is that it is probably his conservative ancestors that brought Ellis's ancestors here and enslaved them.
P.S.Ellis is not part of the nation of Islam the black supremacist group.

He doesn't sound very "honorable" to me. It also sounds like he never actually read the document he is taking the oath to protect:

U.S. Constitution, Amendment I: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...".

Goode has no idea what the United States of America is all about.

He is a disgrace to all thinking Americans.

You will notice, though, that no Republican politico came out to rebuke him. Which tells me Republicans are OK with it. A real American President would have gone on TV to express his disapproval.

But we always knew the whole party is based on bigotry of every sort.

Coming from a right winger, and chances are we are only getting some of the story, but I feel that he was wrong. He should be more tolerant of Muslims, he doesn't have to agree with it, but be more tolerant.

I think he's a typical politician taking a stand that is less than honorable. His vitriol was without basis of fact.
