hey bud. you are 17.5 years old, a teenager, a man, and you are scared of spiders.
a bloke can be 40, a husband and a father, and can still be afraid of something. you get my drift? we all have fears regardless of how old or experienced we are!
prolly you had a traumatic encounter with them spiders when you were young so now, you are bothered when you see them lot. ang yeah bud, they can be really disgusting, especially those massive hairy ones...hmmm. i suppose what you can do to stop that fear is to consult a med professional who can help you overcome your fear of spiders. cos it's not like all you need to do to conquer that fear is to kill a spider, and that's it, you're okay now. hell no. it's a gradual process. you have to understand where your fear rooted from.
there's nothing embarassing about that mate. i actually commend you for sharing your problems here to find a solution to your problem. it sucks sometimes when people laugh at you for having a certain fear, but they have absolutely no idea how real it is. and yeah, get off the grass dude, that is defo not the reason why you don't have a girlfriend, come on. them birds aren't like that, well some shallow chicks are lol.
goodluck.

Coolguy, if being scared of spiders is your only shortcoming then the women are lucky to have you because that is no big deal. Tons of men and women fear spiders. There's nothing wrong with having a fear like this. Fear is an emotion that keeps us safe. Usually a fear comes from something that happened to us so the spider in your drink would have freaked out the biggest of guys, you are definitely not a chicken.

I was terrified of spiders for many many years. My mother always used to grab them with a kleenex, which was WAY too close for comfort for me. One day I was all alone and killed a big ugly one in the bathroom with a fly swatter (you know the kind, the ones that come up out of the drain). This helped me overcome my fear of them, probably because I felt safer with the use of a long distance weapon, like a fly swatter or some bug spray. Now I look forward to finding them just so I can squash them!

Maybe your an ARACHNOPHOBIC or maybe not... Or maybe, your just frighten of it's beauty. The only reason not to be afraid of something is to get used to being around it... Go look at reptiles... there will be plenty of spiders there... I'm sure they won't take a dive down your drink, but it's one option to riddance your fear. Or you could just corner yourself for all eternity worrying about spiders taking over the planet and coming after you :)

Learn to live with them instead of living against them, then you'll have some relief and a chance to fight your fears. Don't worry about having a girlfriend, if you are honest enough to ask about your own fears, then you are more of a man than those who try to hide it! Most girls like honest guys... anyway, spiders are commonly feared, so don't feel alone either.
peace out!

we all have something that really freaks us out. for you it is spiders. Other than hypnosis I know of no way to rid yourself of fears. Spiders are not scary to me but I will run a mile to get away from a bee.

Arachnophobia is pretty common, although people's fears vary in degree. Humans are naturally afraid of things that have direct danger to us. I'm terrified of snakes and my friend asked me to pet-sit her baby python while she was out of town. At first I was too scared to even go near the tank but after a week I got used to it and was able to reach in there to change its water bowl.

It's ok to be scared of things. I'm afraid of heights. It has nothing to do with your ability to get a girlfriend. I guess you can try getting a pet trantula and just overcoming your fear. haha
