I'm assuming we're talking about silver hear if it's a Tiffany necklace. Whatever you do do not scrub it with an old toothbrush, this will leave small scratches on your necklace.

If it's a diamond necklace Tiffany's recommendation says this http://www.tiffany.com/Service/FaqDetail.aspx?faq_id=1167&FAQ_CATEGORY=59%20&Search_Key=&MODE=Normal&
For silver they recommend this http://www.tiffany.com/Expertise/PreciousMetalCare.aspx

Another quick and easy way to polish silver is to get a small ceramic bowl, line it with aluminuim foil, pour hot water in it and sprinkle some baking soda. Drop you jewelry in and watch the tarnish spots fade away. Once cool, rinse with cold water and wipe dry with a cotton towel. I use this technique on my Tiffany silver and they're still good as new.

Use a small quantity of white toothpaste on a comfortable textile and buff rings to a shine. confirm which you do use a textile quite than a toothbrush, because of the fact the bristles can now and lower back scratch the comfortable steel floor of sterling rings. it is the main secure thank you to scrub your rings. there's a tiffany silver which sells stable belongings you could bypass and have a try.

I just got married and the jeweler (who is supposedly quite reputable in Los Angeles) that we had gone to for our wedding rings recommended for us to simply soak our jewelry (as long as it is made of a true metal like gold or platinum or silver, not an alloy) in Windex overnight. In the morning, take it out of your jewelry and run it under water while scrubbing with a toothbrush (you don't need to put anything on your toothbrush). I do this almost daily with my wedding ring (which is made of platinum and diamonds) and it works beautifully. Hope that helps.
