Sugar Sand Capital of the World:
Being someone who has family there, it's a nice place with beautiful waters that the panhandle is famous for. Due to it's close city Panama City, it has gotten bad reps due to not being "hip" for the college type life. Great dining is also available throughout the city. Recreations such as fishing and other water sports are around. Just be sure when coming into the city you dont break down on there famous "3 mile bridge", you stop traffic you pay a nice fine. Also the beaches actually have cleaning crews to keep them nice year round unlike Panama City.
Unlike Panama City, Pensacola has small beach's spread through Escambia County (the county in which it lies) to relax and not have to worry about crazy crowds. Pensacola's also home of one of the biggest naval air bases in the United States and home to the Blue Angels. There ranked second in naval air show flying in the world. If you have kids Pensacola also has a great education system and a lower crime rate than some other cities on the panhandle. To sum it all up, if you want everything from quite nights on the beach or at home to parties through the city Pensacola has it. You'll just have to find some things and you'll see Pensacola's a great place.
There website on top attractions is: www.pensacola.com, but you can also find other's about the city. Hope I was of some help.

There is still some minor damage but nothing that would prevent you from having a good time. The scenic drive between Pensacola Beach and Navarre is still closed but the main Highway 98 is unaffected. If you drive around Pensacola Beach you'll notice some homes and condos still being repaired but the hotels and restaurants are up and running and all the beaches are open. Around the city itself you won't notice anything out of the ordinary. Come on down and have a good time.

I had my daughter in the hospital in Pencecola in 1993. I lived in Navarre Beach and Destin, just near there. Those are beautiful small towns near Pennsecola. Pennsecola itself is a HOLE. Dirty, trashy, but if you want to relocate there, just move to a nearby town. The coastal highway is there and you can be in penns. in no time. The beaches there are unbelievable! The whitesat softest sand, and clearest water ever. Watch the sharks! Quite a few shark attacks in that area lately!

boring
great to visit if you want to go to the beach, but not to live here...it's full of gehtoo and older people and nothing to do. The most "happenin" place is Destin (like an hour and a half away) because of the resorts and shopping.
