Can you claim Tourettes syndrome as a disability? Where could you work if you had Tourettes?

Again, not trying to offend ANYONE, just asking.

Yes you can claim tourettes syndrom as a disability. Many collect disability for that condition. You have to have documentation from your doctor. It is considered a mental illness and would be classified as such in regards to disabiity. When I was in the Army we had a guy who had it and people were mean to him until they found out the first sergeant's wife had it too, then they were nice. I don't know how he got in the Army with it, it must not have been that bad when he first joined.

I'm sure you could argue it is a disability. Whether anyone would buy it or not is another question.
If you need to get a job with Tourette's, I would choose something where you don't have to deal with customers or co-workers much. Maybe work in a library or an insurance company, where your main focus is working on papers. I would avoid customer service or a lot of face to face interaction with co-workers. Maybe research if you are otherwise suited for it.

You definitely can and many do. It is a condition that limits the types of work people can do because of the twitching or jerking and also the verbal aspect. There are medications but I don't think there is currently one that completely eliminates the symptoms.
